Defending digital freedoms and protecting citizens online
AfroLeadership defends and promotes fundamental rights in the African digital space, against a backdrop of rapid expansion in digital technologies and usage.
The organisation works towards an open, secure and inclusive internet, focusing on equitable access to information, the protection of personal data, freedom of expression online and the protection of vulnerable groups, particularly children and women.
In the face of growing digital threats — disinformation, excessive surveillance, cyberviolence and online exploitation — AfroLeadership adopts an integrated approach combining research, advocacy and capacity building. The organisation supports public actors, civil society and communities in understanding digital challenges and adopting practices that respect human rights.
AfroLeadership also contributes to the development and improvement of digital policy and regulatory frameworks, promoting an ethical and responsible digital environment that protects fundamental freedoms. Our ACOPP programme is a concrete example of our commitment to protecting children in the digital space.
